It's somewhat more manageable and the presets don't feel so same-y. In my experience, the pedal works best with midi clock. The four reverbs on hand are gorgeous, but, unfortunately, they are all pre-effect, which smears each preset into a cloud of sound. If you are looking for a traditional reverb or delay, the Microcosm will not provide it. The Microcosm is competitively priced at $459 with a traditional looper and 44 presets on board. As Joel just said, they're still getting preorders out the door as fast as possible. Perhaps this is by design so CBA doesn't get overwhelmed. Unfortunately, there are hardly any deep dives on MOODII yet, which would inform curious buyers. There are thousands of Microcosm videos out there to give you sense of it's sound. As mentioned above I'm not shy on MIDI so am feeling stronger about just using that as my solution to saving preset woes, I do think the MOOD will be my first plunge along with a MIDI controller and the Chase MIDIbox.ĭefinitely looking around used though doesn't seem like the MOOD pedal nets many great deals! Looking at Reverb, ads here, FB marketplace, and Craigslist every day, but if you know other used gear websites that'd be awesome.Click to expand.I keep seeing this question, and as an owner of both, I see why they appear to similar, but I think they are VERY different pedals. Thanks for mentioning it.Ĭool, Rose seems sweet on first listen but maybe not as much what I'm looking for as the Particle does. I think knowing myself for writing purposes I'll want more than 6 presets but the Faves looks like a cool alternative for a live situation if I'm only using a handful of presets. I found a good deal on a used DMC-4 Gen 3 near me, so I might grab that, but was not aware of the Faves which looks cool for different reasons. Thanks for the vote of confidence, and yea I've done a bunch more research in terms of using MIDI for preset savings. Open to other suggestions as well.Īwesome, the Norn does look pretty incredible! I think a bit rich for my blood right now & maybe even more than what I think I need currently, but gives me something else to reach for if this experiment proves fruitful I think. I can only have one (for now - budget) & can't try them, so just looking for input from folks who have used them and can speak to my needs a bit. Radiohead & Bon Iver are probably the first to influences that come to mind when thinking about soundscapes I'd like to explore with this pedal choice. I write along the indie rock & indie folk lines, if that helps.
#Microcosm vs mood plus#
Hologram Microcosm: From what I can tell this is a cool middle of the road choice - gets some interesting sounds but not quite as much as the MOOD, but also way easier to dial things in and of course for anything highly difficult to dial in has the ability to save presets which is definitely a huge plus in case all of these suffer some level of "replication" issues.Red Panda Particle: I think I'm less into the sounds I've seen this produce, maybe overly "glitch" oriented, not quite as ambient, but could just be the videos I've watched.Red Panda Tensor: Also seems to get really cool sounds though as far as I gathered not quite as cool as MOOD, but less controls which lead me to believe I'd have an easier time replicating.

Seems like it might be the biggest winner for just coming up with unique/inspiring sounds though.

Chase Bliss MOOD: Love the sounds that come out of this thing, concerned I'll have replication issues.Though I've now spent countless hours perusing forums, sound replication & gigging specifically seems to not get discussed much, nor does that ever get addressed in videos.įWIW I don't care as much about looping as I do just getting an interesting effect out of what I'm playing in the moment, so microloops are an added bonus and anything beyond that is just pure icing. find a cool sound, write a song based on it, be able to dial it in for a show). pedal that can both inspire song writing, and allow me to replicate the sounds I've created for recording or live playing purposes (i.e. I'm looking for a glitchy reverb/delay/etc. This is also specifically for guitar playing as priority. Looking for some input here specifically from people who have any two of the following, or one of the following and something else they'd recommend in its stead.
